General plan of the Village

The 60 houses are divided into 13 lovely old buildings that are divided among the delightful streets of the Village of Postignano.
Each block was given a name that takes us back in time…

THE TOWER” – number of apartments: 2
It takes its name from the residences below the watchtower, partially integrated into the curtain wall perimeter. You can still see the features of military characteristic in some places. On the ground floor were located the prison cells.

THE SCHOOL” – number of apartments: 5
So named because in one of the units was located the nursery and primary school of Postignano, and, upstairs, the home of the teacher.

OVENS” – number of apartments: 4
Found numerous fireplaces inside the homes.

COAL HILL” – number of apartments: 6
The houses access are mainly from the Coal Hill road, the ancient name of the steps leading from the main street of the village to the houses of the Torrione, and through the access gates in the old walls, outside towards the beautiful hill.

THE PRESS” – number of apartments: 7
So named because of the presence on the ground floor of a well-preserved environment, once used to press grapes and wort boiling.

THE WORKSHOPS” – number of apartments: 5
Buildings in which up to the 50s were held craft and commercial activities (manufacture of iron, distribution of wine, etc.).

THE TRUFFLE” – number of apartments: 1
Single dwelling in the past used as rural deposit and animal shelter, adjacent to ground truffle harvest.

BASTION” – number of apartments: 6
Fortified building, part of the village walls south and west, to the main entrance door to the west on the main street (Via Spoleto).

PARISHIONER” – number of apartments: 12
This impressive building in a central position to the village, built on many levels with access from various streets of the village. Many areas of the lower floors were used as storage for hay and other grains produced in the area, and farm implements.

THE BARN” – numero di appartamenti presenti 12
Imponente edificio, in posizione centrale rispetto al borgo, sviluppato su molti livelli con accesso da diverse strade del borgo. Molti ambienti dei piani bassi erano utilizzati come deposito per il fieno e altri cereali prodotti in zona, e per attrezzi agricoli.

THE BARRELS” – number of apartments: 2

Building located along the county road, adjacent to the old fountain that was once used to draw water for drinking and other domestic purposes (laundry, personal hygiene, etc.)

THE DOVECOTE” – number of apartments 3
Building on the south east borderline of the village, featuring a beautiful dovecote tower.

Design features of the Village “Castle Postignano”

Consolidation and seismic structure
The entire village of Castle Postignano was subject to significant seismic reinforcement works.
Great attention was paid to reconcile with the highest seismic safety compliance and enhancement of historical and architectural features of the village.
In particular, the foundations have been expanded with the realization of reinforced concrete curbs. The walls have been regenerated by injecting grout.
The floors, oak beams and planking, have a concrete slab attached to the walls with steel profiles, the flow rate of 500 kg / sqm; the slopes of the roofs, also made of oak beams are connected to the walls with steel plates and concrete slabs; seismic joints were placed at buildings grip.
Thermal insulation
The apartments of the Village have window frames with double glazing and cavity, the roofs are protected from the hot and cold thermal insulation panels of 5 cm thick, in areas in contact with the rock, cavities were made for insulation, the ground floors are raised above the ground and a ventilated crawl space guarantees protection from moisture.

Sound insulation
To avoid any transmission of noise or vibration between on floor and the other, in each slab were inserted sound insulation panels.

Heating
Each apartment is equipped with central heating, gas boiler and under floor heating, radiators in the bathrooms and supplemented by additional units where necessary.

Water and sanitary system
Hot water flows through autonomous boiler in every apartment.

Electrical System and Anti fire
The apartments are equipped with life-saving switch. Fire system compliant with strict legal standards.

Accessibility
Beyond the driveway, it has been made a lift from the road at the base of the village, where the parking lot is, and reaches the main street of the village, up to the front desk and restaurant, with an intermediate stop at 11, 00 meters; the lift has a capacity of 1,000 kg and a capacity of 13 people.

Infrastructure

Gas: the village is served by a liquid gas tank of 10,000 cubic meters, which supplies kitchens, heating and domestic hot water production in individual apartments, with separate counters;
Drinking water: the apartments are supplied with drinking water provided by the network of the City of Sellano;

Bathrooms ventilation: most bathrooms are ventilated through windows;the bathrooms without windows are ventilated by means
of extractors and ventilation channels which terminate on the slopes of the roofs, with the release protected from the weather.
Ventilation chimneys: the elimination of flue gas takes place through insulated stainless steel chimneys that terminate on the
slopes of the roofs, chimneys protected; aeration (combustion air intake) and implemented through an under floor pipe that connects the outside base of the chimney.
Kitchen ventilation: the elimination of the smoke is done through a chimney that ends on the slopes of the roofs, chimneys protected; the ventilation to the outside and realized through holes in the walls, protected by chimneypots.
Characteristics of the materials used: the materials used are in accordance with applicable laws; furthermore, to bring out the
best of the property, materials that have been used are typical of the local traditional; in particular, terracotta floor tiles made by hand and baked in wood-fired ovens, original tiles, flooring, oak wooden planks, recovery and restoration of old doors, recovery and restoration of portals, road paving with cobblestone and flagstone.
